MEET DIRECTOR & FOUNDER EMMA CLEARY….
Emma began employing her business skills to their full potential 10 years ago when she first established the need for a more flexible way of life in the South East, by placing professionals into flexible career roles as the Director of a Sussex franchise.
She launched Flexibility Matters 5 years later, and with the help of her flexible team, she champions the multiple benefits that a more flexible approach to work and life brings to both employers and employees.
Emma works a flexible week. The five members of her team work remotely and, of course, flexibly, though the team gather on a regular basis to catch up, collaborate and work together.
With 10 years of business development experience in international publishing, The Daily Mail and General Trust Group subsidiary Hobsons Publishing and Dow Jones, (publishers of the Wall Street Journal) Emma was more than qualified to set up a business of her own, but she wanted to raise a family too.
“Stepping back into a 8am-6pm professional role where I could use my business skills, as well as look after my growing family seemed impossible. It became my mission to campaign for a solution for me and others like me – and so the seeds for Flexibility Matters were planted”.
As a member of the Gatwick Diamond Business Group and longstanding member of the Executive Committee, a Brighton Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, a member of the HHBA, the BHBPA, Emma has ensured that she is well connected to spread the word about flexible working. She regularly speaks, hosts events and ensures that business leaders are abreast of the current flexible working thinking, as well as supporting candidates through ‘Work Ready’ seminars and events on and off line. The driver of the South East’s events on best practice in flexible working entitled #FlexForward and the sponsor of the Gatwick Diamond Award for Best Practice for the past 3 years.
